About

JPI was born from a passion for coaching and an aspiration to help athletes strive for excellence both on and off the field. With no building to call his own Johnny first began training on empty fields and various weight rooms throughout the Tuscaloosa area.  In August of 2012 the doors to the facility on Mcfarland Boulevard in Northport, AL first opened. Since then JPI has been instrumental in helping athletes take their game to the next level and gained national recognition being featured in media such as CBS television, the NFL Network, Sports Illustrated magazine, ESPN.com, Yahoo Sports and Bleacher Report.

Coach Johnny Jackson

Owner/CEO

Coach Johnny Jackson is the Head Coach and CEO of JPI Sports. Coach Johnny has been in the business of training athletes for nearly 15 years helping athletes of all ages and abilities to reach their athletic potential. Coach Johnny's professional football career started in the arena league with the Arizona Rattlers where he played defensive tackle prior to moving to Tuscaloosa to earn a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology at the University of Alabama. While earning his degree he also worked as a student intern with the university's strength & conditioning department. Working for the Crimson Tide provided the opportunity to be mentored by highly accomplished championship coaches Scott Cochran and Rocky Colburn. From this opportunity Coach Johnny was able to combine the experience of working in the high energy collegiate athletics environment and his expansive knowledge of human performance to launch JPI Sports.

Coach Johnny considers it a privilege to work with athletes of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. He posses the unique ability to bring out the best in his clients and dedicates himself to help them succeed both on and off the field. His commitment to excellence and his passion for his job is unmatched. He believes in building strong relationships and applying scientific principles paired with hard work to build the most efficient athlete inside and out. He works tirelessly to make this happen with each athlete that walks through the door of JPI Sports.

Paul Sparks

Sports Scientist

Coach Sparks has worked in the health and human performance industry for nearly 20 years. Most recently Coach Sparks has served as a Sports Scientist for the U.S. Special Forces where his work has focused on improving and sustaining tactical performance. Previously Coach Sparks has worked at the Division I collegiate athletic level working in a variety of sports including football, track & field, and hockey.
